As Australia's business and financial capital, Sydney has the largest number of knowledge workers, including managers and administrators, professionals, associate professionals and advanced clerical and service workers of all Australian cities.

About 22% of Australian employment across these occupational classes was located in Sydney as of May 2008. Regional New South Wales also accounts for significant employment in these occupations, plus large numbers of trades people and intermediate production and transport workers.
