Quality of Life

Sydney is a global, cosmopolitan city that boasts an enviable quality of life. Sydney was ranked 10th out of 215 cities by the 2008 Mercer Worldwide Quality of Living Survey. Cities in this survey are graded against 39 key quality of living criteria ranging from political to social and environmental factors. Sydney ranks above almost all other Asia Pacific cities and ahead of all the other Australian capital cities.

Australia was also ranked first in the Asia Pacific and third in the world for quality of life by the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2008.

In addition to being the business gateway to Australia, Sydney is a dynamic and sophisticated city. Sydney is a leading fashion, food, sports, arts and cultural centre. In 2008, Sydney ranked as the seventh top fashion city in the world according to the Global Language Monitor’s Annual Global Survey. Sydney was the only Australian city to feature in the top 10, moving up five spots from the previous year’s rankings.

Sydney and regional New South Wales are great locations for businesses and expatriate staff, offering political stability, access to key amenities, as well as high levels of safety and health care.
