Small business is the backbone of our economy and is critical to the
future of New South Wales.
Hard working small business men and women employ more than a million people in our State. They contribute to the diversity and flexibility of our communities, create jobs and expand export markets.
The NSW Government supports the energy and drive of NSW small businesses by promoting a healthy business climate, attracting business investment and encouraging innovation. We work closely with companies as they take the first step on the road to export, or make the next move to becoming a world leading enterprise.
There are a range of programs designed to give NSW small businesses the best possible chance of success. We also have specialised programs for young entrepreneurs, women in business, Aboriginal business people and home-based business operators.
In addition to the assistance we offer directly, the NSW Government funds Business Advisory Services at various locations across the state. These organisations deliver up-to-date business guidance, training and networking opportunities for people starting, running or expanding a business.
For information on any of the hundreds of small business assistance programs on offer, or to get in touch with your local Business Advisory Service please visit www.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au.
If you’re a small business today or a big business of tomorrow, I encourage you to use the resources of the NSW Government to start-up, expand and take your business to the world.
The Hon. Steve Whan MP
Minister for Small Business
Minister for Emergency Services
