The SRDT division of
IINSW offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of business development in NSW and at the same time to gain valuable government experience and build your career.
Our team of about 400 skilled professionals uses a range of skills and experience to provide strategic advice to Government on developing the economic capacity and productivity of metropolitan and regional areas. The division delivers programs and services to secure innovative and sustainable business and industry development for NSW by:
- providing leadership within Government on business, economic, tourism, science and medical research, small business and regional development issues
- adopting a whole-of-Government perspective with respect to the investment potential of the State’s resources
- supporting the interests of the community in growing the business sector
- pursuing a balance between economic development and the social, environmental and other challenges that confront a modern society.
The division's clients span domestic and international companies of all sizes, as well as industry peak bodies, professional associations, business advisers, tertiary education and research institutions, and Government departments and authorities. The division adopts a partnership approach, working with business and other related agencies to strengthen the State’s international competitiveness through increasing investment and productivity, and to build business capability in New South Wales.
The division focuses on priority industry sectors in NSW, delivers programs and services to support regional businesses and small and medium enterprises (SME), secures investment and boosts export capacity for SMEs, promotes the sustainable growth of the tourism economy and is developing a strong brand to promote Sydney as a global city in the international marketplace.
Key services provided by the division include policy development, industry and market research and analysis on NSW's comparative advantage and priority industries, domestic and international marketing, delivery of programs aimed at supporting priority industries and encouraging small business development and to prepare regional businesses for future challenges, innovation and export growth.
