NSW-Asia Business Council

The NSW Government recognises the advantages of sourcing advice from experienced business people on opportunities to strengthen NSW's competitiveness in Asia. Accordingly, the NSW Government established the NSW-Asia Business Council in 2000.

The Council is an advisory body to the Minister for State Development and supports the development of business and cultural links with neighbouring Asian communities. The Council is chaired by the Hon Henry Tsang OAM MLC, Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier and assisting the Treasurer on Trade and Investment.

The Council members are business people from a broad range of industries with extensive expertise spanning key Asian trade destinations for NSW. Members also bring to the Council strong links to NSW's ethnic business communities.

In 2007 the Council was expanded to include representatives from the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates, as well as members living overseas in the important markets of China and the United Arab Emirates. There are now also multiple representatives from some of NSW's larger trade and investment partners, namely China and India.

The Council actively takes advantage of networks locally and in overseas markets to promote business with NSW; encourages and supports NSW exporters; and promotes NSW's investment opportunities. The Council welcomes contact with individuals and companies interested in collaborating to promote the trade and investment opportunities that NSW has to offer Asia.
