Australian Technology Showcase
The Australian Technology Showcase (ATS) promotes uniquely developed Australian technologies to the international market. Established in late 1997 by the NSW Government to capitalise on the international spotlight of the Sydney Olympic Games, the ATS has now become an important post-Olympics program.
The ATS has contributed towards repositioning international perceptions of Australia's business capability. Increasingly, Australia's innovative talent is being recognised across many fields. In addition to the information technology and communications sector, other leading edge areas include materials technology, medical, biotechnology, environment and energy, transport, agriculture and mining applications.
Over 300 Australian technologies from NSW are now part of the ATS. For these technologies, the considerable promotional and marketing activities that have occurred have contributed to generating over A$210 million in new sales, exports and equity capital injection.
Following its initial and successful implementation in NSW, the ATS has become a national program since its official launch on 27 April 2001. The ATS has the involvement of the Federal Government and most other States and Territories.
Companies wishing to become a member of the showcase may apply to have their technology assessed.
Investors interested in innovative technologies, including those in information technology, environmental management, biotechnology, food processing and industrial design, are encouraged to explore the website.
Industry Capability Network (ICN)
The Industry Capability Network, formerly the Industrial Supplies Office, was established to help NSW firms access opportunities for business that would otherwise be sourced from overseas. This is done by assisting companies to identify competitive local manufacturers and providers for the products and services they require. It also looks to increase the Australian content in major projects being undertaken in Australia and overseas.
In the 12 months to June 2006, the NSW ICN was able to help NSW companies replace imports to the value of A$180 million. Around $141 million of this amount benefited regional firms.
