Young Tall Poppy Science Awards

Sponsored by the NSW Office for Science and Research, the Young Tall Poppy (YTP) Science Awards recognise the achievements of Australia’s young scientific researchers across all scientific disciplines. Selection criteria for the awards include outstanding scholarship and research achievements, communication skills and community engagement.

The science awards recognise the achievements of young post-doctoral researchers and are made on a State by State basis. The awards are now part of the Tall Poppy campaign which now operates nationally in every State and Territory of Australia.

The YTP Science Awards also provide recipients with an opportunity to act as role models by promoting and encouraging an interest in science within education and the broader community. The recipients help inspire students to consider a career in science or scientific research through the Tall Poppies Reaching Kids Program, whereby the State’s best and brightest young scientists visit schools to talk to students about science.
