Contact Centres

NSW has a well established customer contact centre industry with more than 600 companies operating 60,000 seats in 1,500 facilities. Most of the 95,000 employees in this industry work in Sydney.

Customer contact centres in NSW service a wide range of industries – from information technology, finance and business services to transport, education, manufacturing and tourism.

Sydney has many advantages for organisations planning to establish cost-competitive international contact centres:
  • a safe, low risk business environment
  • world class telecommunications
  • a well educated and multilingual workforce
  • a time zone that spans the closing of the North American business day and the opening of the European business day.

Sydney is one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities with 27% of its residents born overseas in more than 140 countries. More languages are spoken in Sydney than in any other city in the Asia Pacific.

In Australia, NSW is home to 51% of Asian language speakers and 36% of European language speakers.

More than 65% of Sydney's customer contact centres offer languages other than English and more than 35% service international markets.

Testimonial

“Sydney was the obvious choice as the location for our IT Global Services Centre. It is the existing infrastructure and management, availability of multilingual skilled staff and global cost competitiveness which provides such an attractive combination.”
