NSW Skilled Occupation Lists
SW Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) program 2019-20
The NSW 190 Priority Skilled Occupation List for the 2019–20 financial year is published below and includes a list of occupations across a broad range of industry sectors.
This year we have introduced a system to show the availability of occupations for nomination by NSW. We will update this regularly to reflect any changes, including the filling of an occupation’s quota. Although an occupation may be available, this does not guarantee an invitation to apply for NSW nomination.
Demand for nomination by NSW is extremely high. The NSW Government will continue to select and invite top ranking candidates who meet the NSW nomination criteria in occupations on the NSW 190 Priority Skilled Occupation List.
We will select and invite candidates on an ongoing basis throughout the financial year. There are no key dates for this process.
Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
The NSW Government will invite candidates for a skilled nominated visa (subclass 190) for those occupations on the NSW 190 Priority Skilled Occupation List.
The NSW Government uses Commonwealth and state employment data, as well as evidence-supported feedback from NSW industry and regions, to select occupations for the priority list.
We select the occupations on these lists to meet the skills needs of the NSW economy across a range of industry sectors. We will regularly update our lists according to the skills needs in NSW. We also limit the number of invitations to certain occupations to ensure that places allocated under the 190 program are in line with the skills needs of the state. We will update our lists once all places for an occupation have been filled.
We will invite the highest ranking candidates who meet the NSW nomination criteria in occupations on the NSW 190 Priority Skilled Occupation List to apply in each invitation round.

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
NSW Government nominates candidates who meet NSW nomination requirements to apply for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) to the Commonwealth Government.
There are two occupations lists for NSW nomination for this visa. The relevant occupation list depends on which or nomination criteria an applicant is applying under.
We have also based the NSW Regional Skilled Occupation lists on Commonwealth and state employment data, as well as evidence-supported feedback from NSW industry and regions. This list considers a broader range of occupations than those available to the NSW 190 Priority Skilled Occupation List.
