11 technology projects announced under NSW Collaborative Solutions Program

01/06/2011

The NSW Government has announced 11 successful consortiums to be awarded grants under its Collaborative Solutions program (CS), to help build the State's digital economy.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said the CS "Mobile Concierge" initiative will focus on developing innovative and new-to-market mobile solutions for the tourism and retail sectors.

“The 11 successful consortiums to receive funding under the Collaborative Solutions program include some of the biggest names in technology development – multinationals like Google, Microsoft, Nokia and Singtel Optus – who will team with technology start-ups and retail, tourism and cultural organisations in exciting cross-sector collaborations,” Mr Stoner said.

“Each consortium will be led by a NSW ICT company which will develop and pilot the new solutions in this State.

“We understand these projects have the potential to collectively generate over 400 jobs, $170 million dollars in revenue, and over $90 million dollars in exports over the next three years.

“One of the projects being supported by the NSW Government is a tool which will allow regional tourism agencies and small businesses to rapidly, easily and affordably publish sophisticated mobile websites.

“We are proud to be supporting this initiative that will drive tourism to regional NSW.”

Over 100 organisations participated in the 32 final submissions received under the CS program Mobile Concierge initiative. Three quarters of the consortiums were a mix of small and large businesses.

28 per cent included a regional or Western Sydney partner and 63 per cent included a partner with international offices to accelerate export.
