The companies were showcased at the Technology & Innovation - the Future of Banking & Financial Services conference at the Hilton Hotel.
The conference was also used to launch a new NSW Government financial services technology directory profiling 62 innovative companies contributing solutions to the sector.
Minister for State Development Ian Macdonald said the NSW companies produce a range of innovative technologies with potential to drive efficiencies in financial services areas including security, administration, business functions, mobile banking and risk management.
“Four of the eight companies being featured at the conference are members of the Government’s Australian Technology Showcase (ATS) program which promotes outstanding innovators to national and international markets," Mr Macdonald said.
“This annual conference brings together financial services leaders to focus on key technology trends and issues. It includes speakers from organisations including ING Direct, Telstra, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ Bank, National Australia Bank, St George Bank, Westpac, JP Morgan, Suncorp, American Express, Bankwest and Deutsche Bank."
The NSW Government, through Industry & Investment NSW and its ATS program, used the conference as a platform to promote our best technology companies and their innovative products.
Sydney is Australia's hub for finance and insurance, with the NSW industry generating over $35 billion in 2007/08 representing 10 per cent of the State economy and over seven per cent of Australia's total value in the sector.
“Finance is an industry built around innovation with competition driving demand for new technologies that can improve operating efficiencies and deliver improving levels of customer service," Mr Macdonald said.
“NSW is home to a wide range of companies delivering innovative solutions for all aspects of the financial services sector.”
