Indian mining companies visit NSW

A delegation of Indian mining companies visited NSW recently to learn more about investment in Australian mines and equipment and technologies that can improve their mining operations in India.

Industry & Investment NSW (I&I NSW) hosted the delegation at a one-day seminar in Sydney, with the support of Gujarat NRE.

The Indian delegation was organised by Austrade and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in conjunction with the NSW Government.

I&I NSW, Austrade and the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) worked with the CII to develop a program of business meetings and networking for the delegation, which included representatives of major coal miners, including Coal India, India’s largest coal company, and iron ore, manganese and steel making companies in India.

The seminar included presentations by NSW mining technology companies, a networking and business matching session, plus an address by India’s Minister of State, the Hon Sriprakash Jaiswal.

Chair of the AIBC’s Resources and Mining Chapter Jason Mendens said the AIBC welcome the opportunity to work with I&I NSW to promote trade and investment in resources, mining and technology between India and NSW.

“The NSW mining sector has many strengths that are of interest to Indian investors who want to improve their operations in India as well as identify investment opportunities here,” Mr Mendens said.

I&I NSW prepared a directory profiling 35 NSW companies and their technologies which have applications in areas including mining safety and training processes, environmental monitoring, management, exploration, and construction.
