Mr Geoff Parmenter has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Events New South Wales, the company established by the NSW Government to market Sydney and NSW as a leading global events destination.
Premier Morris lemma said Mr Parmenter has had an extensive career in the international events industry, including high level experience in bidding for and staging major events.
"Geoff comes to Events New South Wales from Football Federation Australia where he has been the Head of Marketing, Communications and Strategy," Mr Iemma said.
"Mr Parmenter has also worked at SOCOG (Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games) and held executive roles at the Australian Rugby Union.
"He is just the person we need to head up this exciting new company."
The Chairman of Events New South Wales, John O'Neill, AO, welcomed Mr Parmenter's appointment.
"Geoff’s passion for the events industry and his capacity to build and implement innovative strategies will ensure Sydney retains its position as a leading global events destination," Mr O’Neill said.
Events New South Wales was established by the NSW Government to market Sydney and NSW as a leading global events destination through the implementation of creative and innovative strategies that will revamp and revitalise event and tourism opportunities across the State.
The company works to identify, attract and nurture events that can provide significant economic and/or community benefits to both Sydney and regional NSW, including sporting, cultural and lifestyle events.
