Coca-Cola Amatil has announced today that Pacific Beverages, its joint venture alcoholic beverages company with SABMiller, will build a $100 million boutique premium brewery at Warnervale on the Central Coast.
Pacific Beverages is looking to invest up to $100 million in the new brewery development, which will be called Bluetongue Brewery, creating jobs for as many as 120 people.
The Department of State and Regional Development was closely involved in assisting Pacific Beverages to identify the site at Warnervale for development and working with Wyong Shire Council to facilitate a reduction in infrastructure costs for the project.
The Group Managing Director of Coca-Cola Amatil and chairman of Pacific Beverages, Terry Davis, thanked the Department and Wyong Shire Council for their assistance and support on this project.
The Warnervale site was chosen for its proximity to Sydney – Australia's largest beer market, despite heavy competition from potential sites in Victoria and Queensland.
The new brewery will enable to company to increase production of its premium brands, particularly the Bluetongue brand which was developed locally in the Hunter region.
The location of the greenfield site at Warnervale has also helped with planning – the site will include a world-class tourist destination with beer tasting facilities, a cellar door and restaurant. Pacific Beverages is also expecting to develop the brewery as a world-leader in environmental performance and water recycling.
