Report calls for more Sydney convention and exhibition space

11 Feb 2008

The NSW Government has released a report into Sydney's future needs for convention and exhibition space.

The report, produced by John ONeill AO, aims to ensure Sydney remains competitive in international and national markets by examining requirements and options for the upgrade and expansion of exhibition and convention space.

Recommendations include expanding the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour and upgrading the Sydney Showgrounds at Sydney Olympic Park.

Premier Morris Iemma said the NSW Government supports the principles expressed in the report.

The Office of the Coordinator General will now develop an implementation plan for the staged expansion of Sydney's convention and exhibition facilities.
