The largest ever promotion of NSW wines is being held from 5-15 March during the inaugural NSW Wine Week.
NSW Wine Week is a major 10 day consumer and trade focused event to raise awareness about the world class quality and diversity of NSW wines and help grow the State’s wine industry.
It includes a full-day consumer festival called Sydney Cellar Door in Hyde Park north on Sunday (9 March) that is expected to attract up to 20,000 attendees.
About 100 NSW wineries will be exhibiting at Hyde Park from Bathurst, Canberra district, Cowra, Gundagai, Hastings River, Hilltops, Hunter, Mudgee, Nepean/Hawkesbury, New England, Orange, Riverina, Shoalhaven coast, Southern Highlands, and Western Plains.
NSW Wine Week will also include a week-long restaurant-based promotion called "Dine with NSW Wine" involving around 30 high-end Sydney restaurants and a four month online promotional and selling initiative called "Buy NSW Wine". A series of five high profile wine dinners are also being held at leading restaurants.
"NSW Wine Week is the largest ever promotion dedicated exclusively to NSW wine and is a strategic approach to raising awareness about our wine industry - its quality, its range of varieties and styles, its commitment to excellence and innovation, and its regional diversity," Minister for State Development and Primary Industries Ian Macdonald said.
The NSW Government is supporting the inaugural NSW Wine Week through the Department of State and Regional Development and the Department of Primary Industries which are jointly contributing $80,000 and other in-kind support.
