NSW companies hit new heights at Singapore Airshow

12 Mar 2008

NSW companies that participated in the 2008 Singapore Airshow last month are already reporting anticipated sales of more than $3 million over the next 12 months.

The Department of State and Regional Development (DSRD) successfully assisted nine aerospace companies to promote their products and services to Asia Pacific export markets at the airshow from 18 to 24 February.

These companies, from both metropolitan and regional NSW, were promoting a range of products and services including pilot training; component and flight-suit manufacturing; aircraft maintenance repair and overhaul services; and aircraft electronics (avionics).

The 2008 Singapore Airshow is considered the largest aerospace event in Asia and was a prime opportunity for NSW aerospace companies to tap into export markets.

Three NSW companies attending the air show achieved $505,000 in sales at the show and seven companies expect to make another $2.64 million in export sales over the next 12 months.

All up, the NSW companies say they identified 165 potential new customers and end users, so more sales are expected to follow as leads are pursued.

DSRD also used the Singapore Airshow to promote aerospace industry investment opportunities in NSW, promote NSW aerospace industry capabilities, and to identify future export and project opportunities for the NSW industry.

The nine NSW companies that attended the Singapore Airshow were:

  • Peakhurst company AEOS (aircraft component maintenance)
  • Revesby company Byron Aviation (manufacturer of aviation components and ground support equipment)
  • Lawson company Flight Simulators Asia Pacific (flight trainers and simulators)
  • Penrith company Flite Path (civil and military spare parts distributor)
  • Warriewood company International Air Parts (commercial and military aircraft spares)
  • Williamtown company Milskil (air combat training and support)
  • Tamworth company Sigma Aerospace (aircraft maintenance and repairs)
  • Wallsend company Sisley Clothing Australia (specialised safety clothing and accessories for the aviation industry)
  • Milperra company Thomas Electronics (customised electronics)

Byron Aviation General Manager Rodney Lloyd thanked the NSW Government for its efforts in assisting companies target new business.

"It was a very productive show and support from the Department of State and Regional Development and Austrade was exceptional," Mr Lloyd said.
