NSW Treasurer Eric Roozendaal has officially opened a new warehouse and distribution centre at Yennora in Western Sydney, employing 100 people.
Schenker Australia has streamlined its Sydney operations with the new logistics hub which is strategically located to a P&O rail terminal connecting it to the main Sydney-to-Melbourne and Sydney-to-Brisbane railway and Port Botany.
When fully developed, the new warehouse and distribution centre will provide a link between the economies of rural and regional Australia and the global economy.
The unique location of Yennora, in Sydney’s west, offers the potential to feed freight into the interstate rail freight terminal. By integrating road and rail transport Schenker Australia will be able to reduce road transport and the number of trucks in the currently congested Sydney metro area.
DB Schenker is one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics services, and one of Australia's biggest logistics and transportation companies with a workforce of about 1,000.
Its investment in a new state-of-the-art Western Sydney facility is a vote of confidence in NSW's economy and transport and logistics sector.
The warehouse and distribution centre will allow for a seamless flow of goods - from receiving through to shipping - in a fully integrated and IT-enabled hub.
