Small Business Minister launches revamped website

01 Sep 2009

NSW Small Business Minister Steve Whan today launched a revamped Smallbiz website as part of Small Business September 2009.

“A new era of providing information to the small businesses of NSW began on Tuesday September 1 with the formal launch of the revamped Smallbiz website,” Mr Whan said.

“This service sets the benchmark in delivering up-to-date online information to small businesses.

“The website underscores the NSW Government’s commitment to ensure all small businesses get access to top quality information, training and support.

“This easy-to-navigate site has been designed specifically for time poor, information hungry small business owners and operators.
“Its start, run and grow structure means targeted help is available to people who are starting up, refining their business operations or expanding into new markets,” he said.

Mr Whan said the website’s interactive resources include the Small Business Tool Kit with audio and video presentations, checklists, calculators, and quizzes.

He said real life case studies would provide tips and solutions for managing everyday issues such as cash flow and marketing.

Checklists assess readiness for business without overlooking important details.

“The Small Business Tool Kit is the result of a close working relationship between the NSW Government and the University of Western Sydney,” Mr Whan said.

“It is the outcome of intensive research and the hard work of professional staff, and over 20 undergraduate Information Technology, business and accounting students.

“One student became so enthused about small business, she put aside plans to be an accountant, and now wants to be a small business entrepreneur.

“The close working relationship between Industry & Investment NSW and the University of Western Sydney underscores the NSW Government’s determination to forge close alliances with the State’s universities,” he said.
