NSW startups are eyeing for rapid growth through British venture capital.

On 27 May, NSW Treasury partnered with the Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce to host a virtual roundtable for NSW startups.

Around 40 startups attended the event to understand, navigate and access the London and UK venture capital ecosystem.

There was no better group of industry representatives to lead the day’s discussion:

  • Keirra Smith – NSW Trade & Investment Commissioner in London
  • Tom Wilson – Investment Partner, Seedcamp
  • Kathy Gromotka – Principal, Downing Ventures
  • Christian Faes – Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, LendInvest
  • Catherine Woo – CEO, Australia-UK Chamber of Commerce

The  pannelists provided invaluable insight based on their own experience and observations of the fast-changing market trends.

London and the UK’s strong venture capital scene has created a fertile environment for disruptive companies.

It won’t be too long before we start to see many NSW-based startups breaking into this world-leading market across areas like fintech, enterprise technology and e-commerce.

The UK is one of Australia’s most like-minded partners in the world and both countries have committed to launching free trade negotiations in June 2020.
