NSW Trade & Investment is involved in a number of major projects aimed at advancing innovation in NSW.

Innovation and Industry Projects

Since 2007 the Innovation and Productivity Council has commissioned and completed a number of major cross-sectoral analysis, sector-specific analysis and policy and program support projects. These pages provide information on the status and outcomes of the Innovation and Productivity Council's major projects.

The council has commissioned the following cross-sectoral projects:

• An economic analysis of The NSW Economy in 2020 – A Foresighting Study
• An investigation of NSW specific Business Opportunities in a Low Carbon Economy
• A Regional Innovation Strategy for NSW to promote and support innovation in regional NSW.

Other work of the Innovation and Productivity Council includes:

• A detailed investigation of the economic contribution of the Creative Industries Sector to the NSW economy;
• Making recommendations to support:
  • the long-term growth of the Financial Services Sector; and
  • the innovative performance of the Freight and Logistics Sector;
• Providing advice to the National Innovation System Review; and
• Providing input into innovation-related policy and program support projects at NSW and Commonwealth levels.
